Plumbers are expensive gaskets are cheap

I discovered my backflow prevention valve was leaking, and as time went on it just got worse. My wife’s first thought was to call a plumber. My 1st thought was wow that’s going to be an expensive gasket, so I set out looking for a replacement part, with not a whole lot of luck. You can read my blog to see how I fixed my back flow prevention valve without having to order and expensive part or call a plumber. Fixing a back flow prevention valve.

Good job. Make sure drain this for the winter, if ice forms, it will cut the gasket.

Thanks dbray45, I think that is what happened, I live 7200 ft above sea level so we get snow in September and then the next day it will be 80 for the rest of the week. So if I am not paying attention it will freeze and thaw before the plants are ready to go dormant for the winter.

I would definitely recommend that to my boyfriend as well. It looks as good as new so I’m happy enough to save some money. I did the same thing and the plumber did not repair it as he should have.. Thank you!
