I've been renovating for years. I've never lived in a new house. The only new house I want to live in is the one that I build, so I can build it right. A building should be built with the intention of having it around for a minimum of 500 years, considering the resources which are required to build it took far longer for nature to produce.
My main focus is on producing this new house. The intention is to source most of the materials from our forest property and for this reason we are looking at mud brick (adobe) and log or some combination of the two and to require no energy other that than which we can produce ourselves. I look forward to sharing some of the ideas with you and to be looking for ideas to put in our new home.
