Thank you for all the advice on my acoustic ceiling issue. These are some images of my project at earlier stages. I used foam board insulation screwed into concrete with furring strips. Leaving 4 inch gap at bottom for all wiring which will be concealed with molding. The nice part was I achieved the 4 inch gap with a 2×4 which made it simple to set the board on and screw in and keep it all uniform. I did need to wire the electric with BX for safety. Drywall just screwed into the furring strips. Couldn’t be happier with the result! My walls were flat to begin with but any irregularities in the concrete push into the foam resulting in smooth straight walls. Plus at 1 1/2 inch thick I saved 2 1/2 inches around entire perimeter over framing. Right now I’m putting in pergo wood flooring, I’ll update when thats done.
