“Huh? Wuzzat? I’m still asleep”
“Victoria keeps wondering when you are going to do her room. Can’t you just do it now and get it over with?”
“Yeah Babe I suppose I can.”
Everything else is on hold very suddenly.
Day one – I tried to take some measurements without tripping over her precious collection. I got enough actually to figure out how I’m going to handle the huge problem of storage. After work I went and picked up h...

Got up at 5:30. As soon as it was light enough, I had an extremely gratifying round of priming. I realized that every stick of door trim for the entire house is primed.
It’s 7:50. Jr is asleep. I’m getting that cold glass of water ready as Gary recommended. You learn the most useful things here.

Howdy,
We started the day off with my son’s friend showing up at 8:00 AM. Which was fine because I started rolling at 6. We cleared out the living room and moved OIL paint heaquarters to the patio. We went inside and I told him to help my son clear out the room. After about five minutes of doing more pred, I went to take another look. The buddy was sitting casually on the end of my son’s bed and my son was showing a box of junk he had kept forever. Well – the buddy was on...

Well my wife and I are expecting a baby come Feb and there are some changes that need to be made around the house before then. One of which is to turn the loft area of upstairs into a bedroom. Which I’m not particularly excited about because, frankly I like the loft. But being as how we will need another bedroom… So I am going to be removing the railing and putting up a wall with two built in bookshelves. The other major undertaking is to install a fireplace. Which will be a prett...

My son has one year of high school left. I have changed my plans for doing the house so we can get his room next.
Years ago I painted a mural on 2 of his walls. The wall paint we keep. I need to touch up the base color here and there but painting will not be a major chore.
Another minor chore will be to get the wobble out of his ceiling fan. It’s a nice looking, brushed nickel, Hunter fan so we are keeping it. It’s about 5 year old but I still see similar stuff in the box st...

Hey fellow Home Refurbers,I thought I would share a recent article I posted on my blog. It might be helpful to someone needing a cost effective plan for a wardrobe.
Renovating houses and home improvement projects are a very popular way to spend the weekends. With money being tight these days most home owners are choosing to put on the tool belt and get into the DYI method of renovating.
If you fancy yourself a bit handy, this is a great way to modernize your house and not have an expens...

There are several types of Home Additions we do here in Lancaster County, PA. Believe it or not, every room addition we’ve ever done was unique…seriously! Additions are custom designed to your exact dreams and needs, and the needs and dreams of every family are different! My first adventure in refurbishing was in 1974. I added a 17×27 addition to my ranch style home in Northfield Village, Ohio. I built it myself with the help of friends and a few issues of Time Do It Yourself magazines. These were very popular at the time and extremely helpful. The addition had a cathedral ceiling, main room 17×19, exposed beam, an 8×13 laundry room, in ceiling stereo speakers, and recessed lighting. One wall 17ft was an all split brick fireplace. Mason Bill Swa...

Home Offices have never been more popular or practical than right now. They give you access to everything you need to get the job done without the rush hour commute and endless birthday parties. Even larger businesses can benefit. Home offices help save money on location and other overhead costs, as well as travel expenses (read: gas and maintenance costs) incurred with routine driving. And less driving is another great way to go green.
The biggest question is: where do you put it? Here ar...

Parents know that they rarely have the same ideas and opinions as their children, and this is never more evident when it comes to do give their room a new look – you might want one design while your 8-year-old daughter has a completely different concept in mind. Here are a few helpful decorating tips that aim to please the whole family.
First of all, talk to your child and understand his or her vision for the room and incorporate some of those ideas in the design. Keep in mind your d...
