If there’s one thing I hate it’s sleeping in a bedroom that’s full of clutter and clothes everywhere. I always try to clear up my bedroom as best I can but unfortunately my boyfriend doesn’t seem to share my sense of tidiness and it always ends up with clothes and what not spread about the room! When I do get a chance to clean and tidy the room though, there are a couple of ideas I have in mind on how to turn it from something that’s average into something beautiful. Of course there are...

In the second part of this blog, instead of just thinking about the house as whole, I thought I’d focus more on just the kitchen in which adding a touch of DIY could increase the value of your home. Using a fair bit of my real estate experience, my slow but steady gaining of DIY experience/knowledge and an article I found online here at TheMoveChannel, I thought I’d write this short piece to carry on with the series!
Now no one is expecting you to have a PHD in electronics here and create ...

I’m relatively new to this whole blogging thing so please bear with me if this article isn’t quite up to Shakespearean standard just yet! This is my first blog post so I thought I’d make it about something that’s been interesting me as of late. Firstly, my main job is a real estate agent. So I guess you can say my main job is slightly boring! However, the last 3-4 years of so I’ve actually started taking up small DIY jobs in and around the house. My boyfriend has never been very good with thi...

Now for the details of the remodeling.
Original budget: $14k. Final budget: to be determined (right now we are double the original amount). True, I am finished with the kitchen, and I believe she does not have any further plans for the kitchen, but the “house” now became the former kitchen. I think she has enough for me to do for the rest of my life.
EVERYTHING was upgraded during this remodel. From the 1/2 dozen different door knobs I bought, to hinges, slides, lights, etc....

Painting, flooring, hardware, trim is done. You may remember that I built the door trim from scratch. The shoe molding is also mine. Baseboards, I bought.
The design for the simple murals started from my head but they don’t look anything like I started with. My daughter kept refining it. What’s cool is Victoria, picked all her colors, the style of the murals, the location, size color combinations etc. She made her own templates for the edges and picked which edges I used for ea...

“Huh? Wuzzat? I’m still asleep”
“Victoria keeps wondering when you are going to do her room. Can’t you just do it now and get it over with?”
“Yeah Babe I suppose I can.”
Everything else is on hold very suddenly.
Day one – I tried to take some measurements without tripping over her precious collection. I got enough actually to figure out how I’m going to handle the huge problem of storage. After work I went and picked up h...

Once again, I have totally lost my mind. Demo is not done. I haven’t built a scaffold. I don’t have the fireplace stone veener. I haven’t bought my wood floor for the living room. The hallway is not complete. There are a bazillion reasons why I shouldn’t start and yet…..
I’ve got to take a few breaths and delay for a while while I think about execution and the layout of what I’m thinking. The more days I can do that, the better off I will be. If I ...

Got up at 5:30. As soon as it was light enough, I had an extremely gratifying round of priming. I realized that every stick of door trim for the entire house is primed.
It’s 7:50. Jr is asleep. I’m getting that cold glass of water ready as Gary recommended. You learn the most useful things here.

My son has one year of high school left. I have changed my plans for doing the house so we can get his room next.
Years ago I painted a mural on 2 of his walls. The wall paint we keep. I need to touch up the base color here and there but painting will not be a major chore.
Another minor chore will be to get the wobble out of his ceiling fan. It’s a nice looking, brushed nickel, Hunter fan so we are keeping it. It’s about 5 year old but I still see similar stuff in the box st...
