Every good plan has one important aspect- a backup plan for when thing go wrong and something changes. I feel the same way about my house. Living in a place that routinely gets 60 plus inches of snow across a winter and has January nights hitting minus 20f, having a backup heat source and power source is not a luxury, it is a necessity. 2/16/11 We have a propane fireplace/stove in our living room – we bought it a few years ago. This past year, the fan has decided that it would just stay running and we’d have to get up and unplug the built-in fan (very annoying, when it could be turned off and on a half dozen times in an evening.)
