In the second part of this blog, instead of just thinking about the house as whole, I thought I’d focus more on just the kitchen in which adding a touch of DIY could increase the value of your home. Using a fair bit of my real estate experience, my slow but steady gaining of DIY experience/knowledge and an article I found online here at TheMoveChannel, I thought I’d write this short piece to carry on with the series! Remodeling a family cottage #3: Priming and header trim done

07-17-2013 09:07 PM by Craftsman on the Lake | 1 comment »

My painter arrived yesterday and from the two days she’s gotten the ceiling and walls primed and the ceiling painted. I’ve always liked that color as it is very subtly tinted and just seems to bring out the look of natural oak. All walls are the same color. . I know you see the remodeling shows on TV that paint in all manner of color wit...

02-22-2011 02:05 AM by chief101 | 3 comments »

My first adventure in refurbishing was in 1974. I added a 17×27 addition to my ranch style home in Northfield Village, Ohio. The addition had a cathedral ceiling, main room 17×19, exposed beam, an 8×13 laundry room, in ceiling stereo speakers, and recessed lighting. One wall 17ft was an all split brick fireplace. Mason Bill Swa...
