I’m sorry for having so little information in this post from the onset. As I need to do certain things that I consider pred – I’ll add them to this blog. Some with video – some with photos. In the meantime – I’ll start with 2 preps.

The Daughter's Room #3: Room Done - On to building storage.

09-01-2012 02:07 PM by MarkTheFiddler | 6 comments »

Painting, flooring, hardware, trim is done. You may remember that I built the door trim from scratch. The shoe molding is also mine. Baseboards, I bought. The design for the simple murals started from my head but they don’t look anything like I started with. My daughter kept refining it. What’s cool is Victoria, picked all her colors, the style of the murals, the location, size color combinations etc. She made her own templates for the edges and picked which edges I used for ea...

“Huh? Wuzzat? I’m still asleep” “Victoria keeps wondering when you are going to do her room. Can’t you just do it now and get it over with?” “Yeah Babe I suppose I can.” Everything else is on hold very suddenly. My son has one year of high school left. I have changed my plans for doing the house so we can get his room next. Years ago I painted a mural on 2 of his walls. The wall paint we keep. I need to touch up the base color here and there but painting will not be a major chore. Another minor chore will be to get the wobble out of his ceiling fan. It’s a nice looking, brushed nickel, Hunter fan so we are keeping it. It’s about 5 year old but I still see similar stuff in the box st...

House Renovation #1: A Family and Friend Renovation

02-22-2011 02:05 AM by chief101 | 3 comments »

My first adventure in refurbishing was in 1974. I added a 17×27 addition to my ranch style home in Northfield Village, Ohio. I built it myself with the help of friends and a few issues of Time Do It Yourself magazines. These were very popular at the time and extremely helpful. The addition had a cathedral ceiling, main room 17×19, exposed beam, an 8×13 laundry room, in ceiling stereo speakers, and recessed lighting. One wall 17ft was an all split brick fireplace. Mason Bill Swa...
