Been a while since we’ve done a workshop update. The roof has been keeping us in strawberries and basil all summer, and is starting to deliver on other herbs.

A Shop for Dan #11: Lifting the soilIt’s been a while since my last update here, but work hasn’t stopped that much. I did get employed, which sucks, but you know, cash flow and all that. Anyway, I was kinda stalled out so I called in a “final” inspection on my two permits on the shop, got sign-off on the electrical, and 3 things left on the main permit: They wanted to see the eaves painted, a landing for the door, and the soil on the roof. I need all those things done anyway, but getting a good clean ... How to Figure a RafterI did this video to show how to figure and layout a roof rafter. We have had a considerable amount of snow. Just to make it fun, we had a few warm days a while back, and even some freezing rain mix. I went to put on my jacket Monday morning, and I spotted water dripping down the wall in our living room! We have a two story Cape….. not a good sign! Yup – ice dam on the front of the house. Water backep up, found it’s way into the soffit, and into the frame of the win... |
