Dining Room #5: dining room floor

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas I was able to get the flooring down. It is solid maple with a mahogany border. To make the border, I ended up going out and buying rough mahogany and milling it down to the right size and shape, then took it to the router table to put on a tongue and groove to match the maple flooring. I put down the finish over new years week…of course it was 0 degrees outside, so I had to keep the furnace running to keep the place warm enough, and since we have forced air, it stunk up the house quite a bit! We have a room at the end of the house with a woodstove, so we sealed that off from the rest of the house and slept in there so we didn’t breathe ...
