I sort of expected a little assist from my son today. He had to go to work. Here I was with this heavy heavy heavy furniture and bulk pick up is tomorrow. I had to scoot furniture this way and that. I got the carpet and trim out about 1/2 hour ago. My son can help me clear the room before I start painting. I’m tired – I finished up an upholstery job and started this. Part 2: Insanity

There is a popular definition on insanity going around that had a bearing on me today. Forgive me please if you have heard it but: Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results. I was laying my flooring in the Master bedroom. I took the time to carefully clean the floor, undercut the door jams, snap a line, cut a corner out for my sliding glass door, dry fit, glued, cleaned up, weighted and waited. Part 3: Peace

I got up early and added some flooring then I weighted and waited. And weighted and waited. Then something broke loose and I was able to make a lot of good progress very quickly. I was simply laying floor and making cuts. The tools were just appearing in my hands. The glue slops were being cleaned. Weights were being distributed. Boards were being pre-inspected and sorted depending on the damage if any. New boards were coming in and being mixed in with the other boards. ...

Part 4: Home Stretch - I hope.

The floor is down. It took me a LOT longer to lay that floor than any other wood floor I have ever laid. There is a very simple reason for that. I didn’t trust myself. I went fast on my living room floor and I have already had to make a few repairs. I am no expert. This time, I laid some down, cleaned up, weighed it down and let it sit until the next day.
