Part 1: First Post.....
Here’s a wintertime picture of my 1942 cape cod style home in Portland, Oregon. When looking for a home I was not initially drawn to this style of home. After looking at many, many homes, I kept finding myself going back to looking at the cape code style homes from the 1940’s. Eventually, the perfect home at the right price came along and I have been busy every since! can’t seem to get the picture sized right to show the whole house…. I’ll have to work ...
Part 2: Pre-Project Tour
Here’s a little tour of the place as purchased, before any projects were started. I think most of these were taken before we actually signed any paperwork. Some other family members were along for the ride to keep our heads on straight. We purchased the home in March 2005. The first two pictures are from the street showing the front and a view down the street. The street is all cape cod style homes from the 40’s. Part 4: Kitchen Makeover
This was the second project I tackled shortly after moving in to the new place. The kitchen had nice quality oak custom oak cabinets all around, yellow formica countertops, florescent lighting. It was well maintained but certainly did not conform to the ‘look’ my wife was going for. Basically we wanted a kitchen makeover, but didn’t want to spend a fortune. Things we really wanted were:-recessed halogen lighting-granite countertops-new flooring-hanging pot rack-whi...
Part 5: downstairs bathroom
Wow, it’s been 256 days since I last made a blog entry here. To busy doing projects and getting ready for baby #2 I guess. I’ll show some work I did on the downstairs bathroom in this entry. The goal was to update the bathroom into something that matched the cape cod style of the house more closely. Let’s see… this bathroom project was started a couple years ago shortly after the holidays. Next is a shot looking into the bathroom from the entrance. There is a ...
