no previous part Part 1 of Our new old apartment series Part 2: Let's start refurbishing »

Me and my girlfried bought new apartment last year – our first one. First when I saw it, I wanted to leave it right away because everything in there was old, dirty and bad. Then I realized that there are many ways how to refurbish it and make it look like we want, but it will be loot of work to do it.

The apartment has 4 rooms – Kitchen, Living room, 2 Bedrooms and 4 small balconies/loggias.

Here are some photos of the apartment at the time when we bought it:

Very old pelmet

Kitchen

Vestibule – Doors to Bathroom and Toilet on the left

Vestibule – old door, old phone, old lamp :)

Living Room – nice looking wall and floor, broken window at the back

Living Room – walls

Our dog – he can’t believe we’ll live in there :)

Ah yes…. like a blank canvas in front of a talented artist with brushes and paint….

you’ve got your work laid out in front of you and so many different directions to express your creative likes.
It’ll be nice to see some progress pics now and then.

Ok…keep the Girl, dog, phone, it’s kinda retro, and floors…......replace the windows, paint over the pink, redo the cabinets and we are almost done. .....now thats not so hard is it ????

maybe you should call PaBull for help….

I would love to see some waterlox on those floors…..love the floors.

Good luck

That’s exactly what I want to do but: the retro phone is not working anymore :(, floors are really damaged and there are large gaps between them – I think I will put new floors but I will keep the girl and the dog …:)

I kinda like the floor, can’t you revive that floor with a good bar-top finish, to fill the cracks? And if you go retro, let’s keep the peach color on the walls too….

Yes, but this wooden floor is only in the living room . In the kitchen and vestibule is some kind of linoleum. All these floors are in the same height so if we would like to leave only the wooden floor, we have to raise it to the same height as the new floor in the kitchen. Since we would like to have the same floor in kitchen, living room and vestibule as well it would be easier to buy new floor and install it on the old one.
And for the peach/pink color … I hope you’re just kidding …:)

OK I can see the floor issue, go wall to wall and make it look pretty. This way you barry the old pretty wooden floor for the next guy to get exited about under the new floor.

The pink wall… we used that color for the girls room, looks nice, but I can see you changing the color to a more up-to-date one.
