If there is anything that can be said about any bedroom is that it should be a sanctuary! A bedroom should be a place where one gets to unwind from the hassle and bustle of a busy day. Throughout your entire house, if there is one place that needs to be calm and ultimately most comfortable, it’s the bedroom.

For this reason, people are always looking to find better ways of making their bedrooms as comfortable as possible. Decorating your bedroom with decent bedroom décor is one way of improving the outlook and the feel of your bedroom. However, most people usually forget to style up their bedrooms because they feel that such areas are not prone to guests.

When designing a perfect bedroom, one area where you need to put much of your emphasis on relates to your bedroom lighting. It won’t even matter as to whether you reside in a small alcove or a master suite; the most important thing is to have beautifully designed bedroom lights. It is important to strike a balance on the most ideal lighting pattern. This is because, in a bedroom, darkness is good as it creates an ideal environment for sleeping. However, little light in a bedroom has a tendency of hindering some other activities.

When it comes to bedroom lighting, there are three types;

General lighting – amounts to all the overhead fixtures.
Task lighting – bedside lighting provides one with close range light that is good for performing small tasks such as reading. They are focussed and can be easily switched on or off.
Mood lighting – they are usually used to create an intimate atmosphere within your bedroom.
All the three types can be combined in a perfect blend to ensure that you are sorted out on all occasions.

Decorating your bedroom using bedside lamps
Bedside lamps are the kind of lamps that are normally placed next to your bed. Most of the bedside lamps are small in size, hence have little problem fit on a nightstand. For clarity sakes, any lamp that is specifically designed to perfectly fit besides your bed can be referred as a bedside lamp.

There are different types of bedside lamps; there are the clip-on lamps which are basically attached to a shelf or a bed post, small metal gooseneck lamps and the classical bedside lamps.

The classical styles are most common and have a tendency of being inexpensive. They are often small plastic or ceramic table lamps having a vinyl or fabric shade. Most of the classical style lamps are usually sold in neutral colors. Depending on your bedroom size, you can decide to purchase your bedside lamp in pairs.

You can also use Small metal gooseneck desk lamps as your bedside lamps. These lamps are best suited for reading because of the flexible gooseneck section which can easily be adjusted at your own convenience.
With that said, you need to distinguish between bedside lamp light and night light. Night lights are usually small lights that are often plugged into an electrical socket and results to a dim glow. Night lights are neither meant for reading, nor are they for lighting up a place.

Tips for fixing your bedside lamps

There are a few things which you need to know about bedside lamps. They’ll help you understand how to go about the entire light fixture process.

You need to know that narrow candlestick lamp together with wall mounted light fixtures are advantageous to have as they help free up some valuable space that would otherwise have been occupied by Nightstands.
When fixing your bedside lamps, always try to make sure that the light wires are properly concealed. You can do this by allowing the wires to pass through the wall or hide them using wire covers which are normally available in different colors to help match your walls.

It is also important to note that when using your Currey and Company bedside lamp to read or work, take care not to look directly into the light bulbs. When decorating, ensure that the lampshades for the table lamps and the other wall mounted light that is placed beside your bed are between your shoulder heights and your eye level.

If you like reading before going to sleep, you may also want to consider opaque lamp shades having narrow tapes and wider bases. This is because such bedside lamps tend to focus most of the light downwards
