Sunroom #1: Intro

no previous part Part 1 of Sunroom series Part 2: Slow progress... »

We’ve lived in our one story ranch for almost nine years now. We are figuring that we will end up retiring in this home as we’ll never get what we want out of the resale of it (in a not so great school district and a not so great neighborhood but not bad), and we keep renovating it how we like it. I’m due to graduate with a bachelors degree in January (10 years in the making!) and instead of paying to rent somewhere, we’ve decided to have my party here at the house – after some renovating of course. One of the top five on the list is to redo our sunroom. It was once an exterior patio (from what we can tell, and what the level tells us) that was enclosed. We haven’t had a water issue in the time we’ve lived here so I’m going on a bit of faith by putting laminate flooring in.

The story so far :

1. 2 layers of carpet taken up – 1 marine grade, one green golf carpet
2. walls spackled and sanded for the most part
3. valences taken down and holes spackled

Next steps :

1. concrete patching
2. more spackling
3. organization and removal of most things from the room

Great post full of useful tips! My site is fairly new and I am also having a hard time getting my readers to leave comments. Analytics shows they are coming to the site but I have a feeling “nobody wants to be first”.
