This project was not that complicated, and was made much easier by using a computer program to layout my cuts (Cutlist Plus). I would not have done this kitchen like I did, but it was for my sister-in-law and her budget was $0. I think the complete job cost me about $150, including the hardware (I only had to use one 4×8 sheet of plywood).
I used 1/8” oak plywood for the veneer and adhesive to lay over the existing laminate. I did make the doors from red oak. This was a simple recessed door with European hinges.
I am amazed that the adhesive I used (I forget the brand) lasted as long as it has, considering the rigors of the kitchen. Everything was finished with semi-gloss polyurethane.
-- No matter how many times I measure, I always forget the dimensions before I cut.

Holy Crow Billy – You did that with a sheet of plywood?!
I’ve always been terrified to do my cabinets. It’s amazing what you did. Can you give me some ideas? I need over 30 doors, 10 drawers, 2 blank drawer fronts. What do you think I can pull off for say $500?
