My First Kitchen

This is my own kitchen. I designed and built it several year ago before I became a kitchen designer. We have plans to revise it a little now but not sure when that will happen.

I really need more than six photos to tell the whole story. I tried to get a couple of before and after from the same angle. I will embed some here.

Gotta open that wall up.

There ya go, that feels better.

There was a soffit above the cabinets that stopped where the wall paper starts. In the center of the room they had made a light box with fluorescent lights inside. Typical 70’s remodel except they used the least expensive cabinets they could find. They are made from 1/4” ply. Fortunately, I can fix that.

One nice thing about this kitchen was the tall pantry cabinet they had next to fridge. We lost that feature in the remodel because we wanted 2’ of counter space on the left side of the stove. We didn’t want pot handles to stick out into the walkway (who knows we might have grandkids someday).

We put a cheap pantry cabinet in the laundry room adjacent to the kithen. That laundry room will become part of the kitchen when we do the next remodel.

When I wasn’t tearing down walls at home I was making my new kitchen cabinets at the shop (after work of course).

I wanted to personalize the cabinetry for my wife but I thought a monogram would be corny. Fortunately, her middle name is Rose.

Came out nice huh?

Wow! Your cabinets look great (actually the whole kitchen does). The rose makes me wish I knew how to carve.
