Building a built in bookshelf with arch top

The bookshelf is made from walnut and back lit with LED’s. The designer had the alcove faux painted with a metallic and plaster paint so it would reflect the light

The LED makes the whole alcove come alive I think! It’s a really nice touch that will be nice in the evenings to light up the hallways too. Like a kind of ambient lighting.

It is a clever hack indeed to build built-in storage cabinets instead of simply fixing them onto the walls. I know the process does require more work though with the hacking of the wall body. However, the efforts would pay off when you get more storage while taking up lesser floor space.

It looks really sleek as the shelves are fixed inside the walls. They would look rather bulky and in-the-way should they be easily mounted onto the walls directly.
