April 27/10
Little by little my kitchen is slowly being transformed into “my style”.
In the first picture you see the first attempt at the transformation. I don’t like the look of the white MDF cupboards (or whatever they are) and I want a rustic looking kitchen. By removing the doors and placing my antique bread boxes and tins inside the cupboard I was able to compromise until I was able to do something different.
While on a roadtrip with my sister-in-law we found this perfect table (ok, it would have been more perfect if it was an antique .. and even MORE perfect if it had come from my ancestors…) but, I’ll take what I can get.
So, in the second photo the table has the bread boxes and tins on the shelf. (I also see a pop bottle that I’m saving to use in my garden this next month. I guess it got away from me the other day.)
What you can’t see in the photo is that the first shelf covered up the lower part of the window—why?? why?? why???!!! and now I have full access to the window! YIPPEE.
The first cupboard is now sitting by our patio door, holding boots, tools and equipment that never got farther than inside the door.. argh .. now—all put away nicely!
To be honest, I really don’t care about decorating (or housekeeping for that matter) but I am enjoying transforming my house using antiques and family “heirlooms”.

Very nice Debbie. I thought that it must be an antique soda bottle. So I’m glad that you explained the use for it.

Good for you for trying to make your kitchen how you want it. It’s the one room in the house that I want my way….the way it should be instead of making do. Using what you do have is a great idea for boots, etc. That area sure can get messy quickly. I know! lol
Can’t wait to see more as the project progresses.

thanks Birdladynb. :)
most things, when it comes to my home don’t matter to me—or they didn’t anyway.. but when I do make a change, to what I want, it sure does feel nice.
I’m doing more and more changes inside the home these days – and loving it :)
GO GREEN! haha

Debbie the green table has personality complements the floor and tins placed in it. Good choice.
