About 6 weeks ago, I began a project of taking a covered deck someone else had built and making it into a 4 season sun room. Basically, it became another room to gather in, but, it was really fun to build.
I had to move existing posts then frame for 6 5’x5’ sliding windows and a new door. Mind you, 4 of these windows are 2 stories up.
I also had to match, as close as possible, to the existing siding. That wasn’t too hard, except, you never get a great, or perfect, match.
I then had to take out the current 6t’ slider and replace it with a 5’ double door. Just more framing involved, but fairly straight forward.
To finish it off, I had to drywall right to the windows, no molding. We put down solid oak hardwood flooring.
That was it. Most of this was done by myself, but I did have a helper for some of the framing and for installing the windows and doors.

Great job. I bet you had fun with the windows! How much more did you beef up the posts?

WOW how about coming to Kokomo In. and look/tell me how I can do about like that, only on the ground floor and still have a deck OVER, for bedroom upstairs. the deck already there. YES it’d face the south! Actually I am not serious any more but maybe once upon a time, Now we become “Winter Texans instead! sure is a fabulous looking project tho.
