Front stoop & landscaping

A few years ago we moved into a newly constructed home. It was a spec home which was about 70% complete when we bought it so we were able to customize some of the final touches. There were, however, several items that were obvious “builder-grade”, one of which was the boring concrerte stoop/step and paver walkway. Since we didn’t want to change the structure to add a porch or a small roof over the front door, we decided to add some interest to the stoop itself.

We used the existing concrete pad as a foundation and used a combination of Techo-Bloc pillars and bluestone slabs for the landing and treads to give the entryway more interest. We also replaced rectangular paver walkway with a new, more interesting one with varied size pavers and some flowing curves.

Landscaping was next on the list.
