Andersen Whole House Remodel and Addition

The Andersen Project
Architect: Crossroads Blue Sky
Builder: Reed Builders inc.
Cabinet Shop: Reed Woodworks inc.

We gutted and rebuilt this odd looking house into a shingle style, country house.
There is a new entrance way and a family room addition with a shade arbor in the back, off the kitchen. It’s not a lake front home, but you can see Lake Michigan from the kitchen so we opened up the back to take advantage of the view.

We remodeled the Kitchen (see post on LJ) and all 4 bathrooms and the laundry room which had a shower for dogs. There are numerous built ins, mantles, huge wrapped beams, coffer-ed ceilings and crown, wainscoting, and stair railings. We had a great time working together on this job.

look at all those windows – I love it. Oh how I’d love a “window room”.

The home is BEAUTIFUL, so spacious. A “relaxed luxurious” feel to it.

Beautiful work. I especially like the kitchen. Is that a coffered ceiling?

Hi Beth,
Yes, the kitchen has a coffer-ed ceiling. What a nightmare job that was. The existing ceiling was way out of level and bowed down 3/4” in the middle. The boxed and beaded beams with base and crown inside had to be perfectly level as they passed 1/2” above the cabinets all the way around the room.

I’ve been known to say that I was born and raised in Austin Texas just because it sounds cool but in fact, I was born in Oklahoma city and we moved to Austin when I was 2.
I never cared much for all that red dirt, long horn cows, and oil dregs….. until I visited the memorial for the 1995 Oklahoma city bomb victims. It Really moved me. So, now I’m proud to be a sooner!

sooner leave than stay! Ha.

I’ll trade y’all some snow for some red dirt?

No thanks. We’ve had our fill for this year (which is a whole lot more than we usually get…perhaps the effects of global warming mixing the weather patterns up). And tragic as the Murrah building bombing itself was, the memorial is something special. It does us all proud.
