We remodeled our daughter’s bedroom a few years back but thought I would post about it anyways. We replaced two old single pane double hung windows, with new windows. We removed all the big old moulding around the windows to try and make the room look bigger since the old moulding really ate up a lot of space. The windows have since had new treatments including new drapes made by my wife.
The old ceiling was popcorn texture which we couldn’t wait to remove, we found lots of old water damage and decided to just go over the ceiling with drywall instead of trying to remove the old lath and plaster (almost all the walls and ceiings in the house are lath and plaster). After installing the new ceiling our contractor friend then texturized the walls and ceiling, actually just floated over them with plaster, which turned out with a texture exactly how we wanted. You can see that we also added new carpeting, crown moulding, a new paint scheme, painted the wall heater cover and removed the mirror tiles from the armoire.
I wasn’t happy about the colors my wife and daughter picked, but after it was all done, I thought the colors came out great. Below are more pics of the process.

Thanks, we still have one more room to remove the popcorn on, but that room is not on the schedule yet, much later.
We have been making good progress on the kitchen, the tile contractor replaced the old ceramic tiles with new ones this week while I am out of town. I am currently in Portland, ME but will be flying home tomorrow at O dark thirty. I will post some pics of the new floor this weekend in my blog entry.

Thank Mr T, I also like this style of door trim, it is the same in a lot of these old houses in my area. We plan on keeping the style throughout the house. However, we are removing the same trim from around the windows, it helps to make the room look bigger by removing the massive amount of wood from the windows and gives us more window treatment options.
