Kitchen redo

We bought this house about a year ago. Nothing had been updated in 18 years. We started with the kitchen.

To keep costs down, we reused the original cabinets. I stripped them, re-stained and sprayed a water base topcoat. We changed the layout by using the island cabinets to create a u shaped area. We put down a wood laminate flooring and I made new shoe mould from scratch. The original had a drop type ceiling that we ripped out, and replaced the fluorescent lighting with recessed cans. I spent a lot of time repairing drywall. Then we tiled the back splash.

I still want to add some more trim to the cabinets, around the ceiling and then under cabinet lighting.

That’s what I call a kitchen makeover! Moving the island was very smart, very nicely done!

Nice work on the cabinets. It gives a new look to the kitchen. Glad to see you had good cabinets to start with, and only needed to stain and re-finish them.
