Topic tags/keywords: insulation walls cold dug out

We have a house that has a dug out under what used to be the porch but has been turned into the front of the living room. The size is approximately 24 ft X 10 ft and has one size up from P Gravel for the floor and nothing much other than Gyproc behind the 4 ft tall metal stub wall all the way around it.

I have been given 2 options 1) 2” thick Styrofoam all the way around but they don’t say anything for the ground. The 2) second option is spray foam and this includes between joists and the ground.

Does anyone have any ideas which way is better. We live in Canada and you can kinda guess how cold it gets in the dug out in the winter, this then makes the floor in the living room cold and makes the heating bills rise.
