I’ve insulated my garage door using 1” foam board. The foam board has a metallic shiny film on both sides. In watching videos this is supposed to reflect the radiant heat. Is it required on both sides or just the side facing toward the garage door? The garage is primarily used as a workshop and I really don’t like the metallic look on the inside. I would prefer to paint it the same color as the inside walls, but don’t want to detract from the insulation value. Does anyone have any experience with this? thoughts?

Insulating your garage door with 1” foam board is a smart move! The metallic shiny film on both sides should ideally be facing towards the space you want to insulate, so in this case, it should be Peter Veres Consulting evident on the inside of the door. However, if you don’t like the metallic look, painting it the same color as the inside walls won’t detract significantly from its insulation value. Good luck!
