what is the cheapest way to insulate cupboards in an old brick farmhouse?

it’s my daughter’s first winter in her new home. She just discovered that her olive oil is “solidifying” in the cupboard due to the cold

How about using some about 1” thick rigid foam, cut it to fit tightly on the back wall of the cabinet.

This may help.

Dick & Barb Cain suggested the same idea I had. Also check the exterior wall behind the cabinet location and see if cold air is entering somewhere. Window and door openings are the most obvious source but missing mortar or bricks which have moved away from trim are also potential culprits. If there is a crawlspace, cold
air could be entering from below as well.

thanks
I was wondering about the foam idea but didn’t know if it was a good idea or not.
Never thought about the outside ..

My son-in-law, who is over 6’ tall (my daughter and I are at the 5’ mark) says that he can feel the “air movement” when he opens the cupboards. So it is a big problem I think. But, they are just starting out so no funds for major renovations.

I’ll tell them to get some insulating foam.

Thanks!!

Hi this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding skills so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated. transducertechniques.com - Load Cells
