I have come into pocession of some used Corian countertops that I like to cut, resize, rejoin and reuse. My first go at this so I’m looking for the “tried and proofed” method. All the runs will be straight. Actually I have two long pieces. The length of the piece with the sink is 6 inches short of what I need it to be. I need to cut 6 inches off one piece and add it to the other. It will be going into a non-profit refurb house and we are trying to reduce as much cost as possible. Anyone have a suggestion.

There is a special glue that is used for this. It comes in colors that match the Corian. You can cut this with any carbide saw that you would use for cutting fine wood. Glue it and clamp it then you can sand it out with a sander. If you do it correctly it wil be flawless and no one will know. If you do not do a flawless job, everyone will know…..LOL Sorry that is about all the help I can be. Use carbide tools where possible and do wear a mask. that stuff is pretty tough on the lungs.

In the past people that make solid surface counter material would not sell it to anyone that had not taken their course on installation and that was expensive since it included some tools. That way they kept the product out of the hands of DIY folks and it always looked good when installed so they could sell more. I have seen it done and I have made some cuts to install small pieces but that is the limit from here. I have seen some installed that looked like a hatchet was used on it too. Call a cabinet maker and ask him to come do it for you. It is reasonable for a good top.

Since this is a refurb for a nonprofit deal call a cabinet maker and see if he will come do this job for nothing. He should be as big hearted as you…..right?

I have had raw amateurs have wonderful success with the instructions on the link I gave you. I am sure that there is nothing in there you cannot do. If there is some extra just give it a try.
