I spend most of my time over on Lumberjocks, so this is my first post here. I have some hand hewn beams from a barn my son tore down he is looking to sell. Pictures at the bottom of this page.

  1. of these are hand hewn chestnut about 7” x 8” x 15’

The rest are hemlock or pine.

Argh! I grew up in upstate New York, the house I grew up in had chestnut beams, and in my most fanciful daydreams I fantasize about tearing the house down to reuse the lumber in it.

Which is exactly what you’re doing.

Dang it, I wish I had the space and it were cost effective to buy this from the east coast…
