Topic tags/keywords: humor Hey Refurbers, or Remodelers…...Where u at? This place is as dead as a union hall. Time to come out and fire up the BBQ pits and wake up! Winters over! ......Yahoo! I have so many outside projects lined up! Who are the regulars over here? Todd, you still around? Looks like the new guys fixed the website. NO MORE VIAGRA COMMERCIALS!.... YEA!!! If you are a carpenter or remodeler, hanging out at LJ for the conversation – that’s cool but you can also cut and paste your posts over here too. why not get twice the comments for the buck? Just go to Edit mode, copy the post and paste it over here. Takes less than a minute, pictures and all. Refurbers, is where we belong. I’d like to encourage all of you to come back and re ignite this site and make it popular again. anyone interested?......hello? What do you have planned this year for your own house? I’d like to thank the new owners for fixing the site. If you could bump the download limit to 4mb. instead of only 3mb. on the 6 pictures at the front of the post – like allowed in the text, that would be nice. so I don’t have to resize them – make it like LJ. Thanks! -- mark - Grayslake IL. |

Hey reed. I’ve been scoping this site and posting for a little while. Glad to see another human being and not an advertisement. Like u said I’m over on LJs and much more active there. I pop in here maybe once every couple weeks and post something. -- Ferdinand and Son Construction. Do it right the first time. Like us on Facebook |

Hi Greg, I remember seeing your whole house remodel project over at LJ. I may have even commented on it. Yea. this place got pretty quiet after all the problems with spammers. Now that it’s fixed, we should give it our support and who knows, maybe the guys will come over here. Why not post at both sites especially if you’re a carpenter or in the trades? How many different LJ bread boards are there to look at anyway? ha! jk. I’d like to see some more posts of big projects. Like a historic restoration of an old Victorian house or some elaborate winding stairs. Never get enough kitchen remodel posts. How about home theaters, media rooms, recreation rooms, wet bars in basement pool rooms? Multi level decks and shade arbors make good posts too. Tile jobs – I love cool tile patterns on back splashes and floors. I’m installing my own cherry kitchen right now and trying to figure out the tile pattern myself, that’s why I mentioned it. This is a really good site for your clients to visit if you create a nice portfolio of your work to show them. I’m feeling a little optimistic. If a few more would comment and post a few projects,....... they will come. I’ll bring the beer. -- mark - Grayslake IL. |

Mark glad to see that you’re putting in the effort. I actually would prefer this site if it got going again but like u said. Very frustrating when every post u make you get someone trying to sell you a lose wright quick pill. Because of that I basically hover at LJs. The reality of the matter is I would much prefer this site if it had a little activity. I love woodworking, but construction is my bread and butter. Everything from structure to decks to kitchens and baths. I love high end custom trimwork. Stuff that takes brainpower and let’s me show off so to speak. ;) As far as posting projects goes, I’m one of those guys who always forgets to take pictures. I’ve gotten much better in the last 2 years but I find myself at the end of the day saying,”CRAP! Totally forgot to take a picture of this or that”. But I have a few posted here. Now that there are humans here and not spambots I’ll try to keep posting. If your looking for so e tile ideas I have a kitchen remodel posted on here that had a pretty nice tile job. Has a glass tile border that set it off nicely. It might give you a little inspiration. If you want you cAn check out my facebook page, Ferdinand and son construction, I have more things posted there. All said. I’m glad you’re here. It’s been long enough, and I’m ready for a construction community to bounce ideas around. I’ll talk to you around the site. :) -- Ferdinand and Son Construction. Do it right the first time. I’m relatively new to this forum, but I like the look of it and (so far) the friendliness of it. I’m a retired contractor, but I still get roped into projects now and then. I look forward to contributing here. -- Joe Cottonwood -- 99 Jobs: Blood, Sweat, and Houses |

Get joe. Welcome to the forum. It’s nice sometimes to just bounce ideas around with other contractors. Plus it’s always good to see their projects. So it’s nice to have you brother -- Ferdinand and Son Construction. Do it right the first time. Like us on Facebook |

Hey Mark…Like Greg said it is nice to see living and breathing human beings here. I tried a while back to breath some life back into HR but the spammers took over. -- The difference between a pro and an amateur, an amateur points out his mistakes |

I am new here but long time at LJ. Always working on my house and my daughter’s house. It does seem a bit quiet. -- Love woodworking and fixing most anything |

I recently did a bathroom, entertainment wall on my house. Putting in a couple of windows in my daughter’s house, replacing some wiring (old house with no ground), and a light in my daughter’s shower – sometime in the next couple of months. -- Love woodworking and fixing most anything |

Some of the things I have done in my house – Kitchen twice – once with store bought cabinets, the second with cabinetry I made, including counters In past careers I did apartment and commercial maintenance, had a Master HVAC license, 1st Class Stationary Engineer’s license, gas fitter’s license as well as helping others fix their houses. There is a lot I haven’t done and hope to look those things in the future. I am firm believer that if there are building codes for something, this is a baseline and can be done better. -- Love woodworking and fixing most anything |

Hey guys, Only good thing about it is I’m finally getting my own house done. I’ve been building my cherry kitchens for the last few years which kept getting put aside for other projects. Now, I’m actually installing them – well, I was until the spring flowers popped up and I had to clean out the gardens. Now it’s too nice to be inside! dbray, that’s a lot of work on your house. I thought I was the only one who did that. No popcorn ceilings though, they used sand, had to gut everything. What a mess. It’s cool that you’re able to help your daughter out. she owes you one! -- mark - Grayslake IL. |

Had to laugh at the “popcorn crap”. I’ve sprayed so much of that stuff back in the 80’s, even in closets..crazy. Sometimes we would be spraying for weeks at a time. Everyone wanted it…with glitter…haha. -- The difference between a pro and an amateur, an amateur points out his mistakes |

So….YOU’RE THE ONE! .......BOOO! Man, I hated that stuff. couldn’t repair it, collected spider webs and soot and was usually put on to hide an amateur tape job. or maybe that was also part of their labor saving evil plan. whatever…rip it out! Be gone! The swirly mud texture jobs were just as bad. unless it’s plastered fresco style and done right…that looks awesome in the right house. I did several French country kitchens where we hired these Italian, no English speaking guys, right off the boat, to come in and plaster the walls….wow…...just stand back and watch. -- mark - Grayslake IL. |

I will post my kitchen later in the week. It includes solid cherry counters that i made by hand. I also have a bunch of other projects that I will post -- Love woodworking and fixing most anything |
