Spamming

the tech part … that’s Martin’s department.
I usually check the site twice a day and I don’t mind. I do miss the comments that are spams though and just need a private message to let me know who the spammer is.
If the site gets busier, the spammers will increase and then I may not be able to keep up.

Here’s my two cents (albiet a bit later than the rest of everyone).

Many other sites (youtube for example) have the thumbs thumbs down rating along with a ‘mark as spam’ tag along side someone’s comments on a video.

If the powers that be put a spam tag on a profiles home page and it receives enough votes then it is dumped as spam.

As far as thumbs up and thumbs down… Most every Refurber I have seen making comments is either offering encouraging words directly to another Refurber or high quality information based on their experience in the field. I would give thumbs up to many of the answers the Refurbers past to peoples questions just because I agree that they provide timely, relavent, knowledgable and helpful information to those who ask for help here.

If there was a thumbs down, then someone selecting that option should have to offer their opinion of why they think a post deserves a thumbs down, versus just giving thumbs down.

I suspect that something as simple as a “spam” tag on a users home page is enough for the Refurber’s community to monitor itself.
